SPIRITED RACING AT DORVAL MONTREAL, Quebec, September 20. As a feature attraction this afternoon the Dorval Jockey Club offered the running of the Joliette Handicap, a dash for three-year-olds and over at three-quarters of a mile. The winner turned up in C. L. Whitings Vive McGce, with the public choice, Flibbertygibhet, next, and Blazonry third. Vive McGee was ridden by Stearns and in a hard drive that lasted through the stretch won by a safe margin and rewarded her supporters by paying a handsome dividend. The track liad dried out considerably under a strong wind and sunshine, and although a trifle slow was much better than last week. Good racing weather prevailed and another good-sized crowd was on hand to witness the running of the card, which was productive of spirited racing. W. A. McKInney reported this morning that he destroyed the useful old campaigner Freemantle. The horse had been nerved some two years ago and foot decay set in, making It necessary to destroy him. Charles H. Campau will distribute the stake blanks for the coining winter meeting at Oriental Park to the horsemen today. Entry blanks for the Maryland Futurity, to be run at Pimlico, were also received from F. J. Bryan and distributed. C. Koerner, at the conclusion of this meeting, will send five of the horses that he trains for H. A.-Letourneau, a local patron, to Cleveland to participate in the meeting at that point. The "stable will be reassembled and sent to Cuba. Koerner will also pick up Duke of Shelby and Fiction, which have been summered in Cuba. Mail advices from Havana state that all the horses that summered there are now being galloped daily. The addition to the clubhouse is practically completed and other Improvements have also been finished. Jockey T. Nolan, premier rider for the Canadian division of the Ross establishment, departed for Havre de Grace last evening on receipt of a wire from trainer Bedwell. The Canadian, division of the Ross string was shipped to Woodbine Park last night. The apprentice Grime also went along. Blair Mock will ship American Eagle and Le Balafre from here to Laurel, the rest going to Chagrin Falls, near Cleveland.
