CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Eight yearlings, the property of S. A. Clopton, have been shipped from Lexington to New Orleans. The veteran trainer De Mestre has been engaged to train for S. B. Joels important stable in England. Eniil Herz has left Kentucky for New York after paying a brief visit to the Short Grass Stud farm near Lexington. I W. J. Salmons Futurity winner. Step Lightly, together with her stablemate, the speedy Careful, has arrived at Havre de Grace. W. R. Coes stallion Hariuouicou hus arrived at Himyar Stud in Kentucky after a safe jonruey from Mr. Coes ranch at Cody, Wyoming. The principal winning owners at Deauville were M. J. Hennessy, with 5,006; M. M. Boussac, 0,120; J. Rutgers Le Roy Vanderbllt stable, 8,812, and Capt. J. D. Colin, 6,151. Formerly chief of the great racing stable of the Czar of Russia, Charles Solloway Is now peddling matches for a living ou the London streets. He still wears the highest of decorations of Czarist Russia. There will be no dearth of steeplechasers for the Woodbine Park meeting, the jumpers that raced at Blue Bonnets having been shipped to Toronto at the conclusion of that meeting. J.
