ROUGH RACE FOR BOLSTER Overwhelming Favorite in Havres Main Race Suffers Defeat Butwells Good Riding. HAVRE IE CRACK. Md., September 2S. The Plateau Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at one mile and a sixteenth, was the most pretentious offering pf todays program sit Havre, all the races being under claiming conditions. The public could see nothing but Bolster in the main race and keen was the disappointment expressed when the English-bred Chasseur led home the favorite by three lengths. Bolster had a rough race, was cut off fwlce when his rider attempted to come through next to the rail and with better racing luck might jave reversed the verdict. Jockey Butwell rode the winners of the first two races. It was principally because of his energetic riding that E. B. McLeans Lough Storm scored jn the Initial dash. After Dark Horse led to the Inst eighth, Butwell brought Lough Storm up with a rush and 1n a thrilling finish landed her victress hyja head. In the following race Butwell had the mount on Phantom Fair and after shaking her up a sixteenth out had only to sit still and let the filly win as she pleased. The best finish of the afternoon came in the fourth race, in which Arbitrator, Rey Ennis and Calvert -crossed the winning line in the order naiaed with the smallest of margins separating them.
