I ! LAUREL PARK OPENS FRIDAY LAUREL. Md., September 2S. Laurel Park, resplendent in new paint as to its buildings, its infield like a spread of rich green velvet. Its flower beds gay with color, awaits the opening on Friday of the October race meeting of the Maryland State Fair. The impending meeting will begin oh the first and continue throughout the entire month. There will be twenty-six racing days all told, It will be marked by the distribution among horsemen of a matter of 50,000, of which upward of 17,-000 will be added money, and the running of im-IKutant stakes in which the best thoroughbreds of-the strongest American stables will participate. Situated midway between Baltimore and Washington on the great interurban loulevard and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Laurel Park boasts of an environment for autumn racing unexcelled anywhere in the country. The course is in splendid condition, thanks to the painstaking attention of Its superintendent. It is faster than it ever was before and perfectly safe. Already several hundred thoroughbreds are shel- tered in the Laurel Parle, inclosure and additional . arrivals are reported daily.
