TO SELL SOME OF VANDERBILT HORSES A. K. Macomber is reported to have sailed from France on the Mauritania on a flying trip to New York, expecting to return on the same boat. It is understood that he is coming here to make arrangements with certain American turfmen for the purchase of some of the late W. K. Vanderbilt horses, as he does not wish to retain all of them. He probably has now tlie largest racing establishment in tlie world. William R. Duke, for many years Vanderbilts trainer, has consented to continue handling the Vanderbilt string for Mr. Macomber during the remainder of tlie autumn racing season, hut Thomas Murphy remains tlie trainer of tlie original Macomber horses. Frank ONeill of St. Louis, winner of this years Derby, and for many years the top-notch jockey of the French turf and for a long time Vanderbilts first string jockey, has been retained by Macomber. replacing Guy Garner of Cedar Rapids, la., who last year rode for an Armenian millionaire and then went over to Macomber for a big salary.
