: 9 THIRTY LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS J. Itodriguez is now the leading rider of the year, displacing J. Carmody, who held that coveted position since last January. Rodriguez rode six winners last week, giving him a lead of one over Carmody. who is now plying his vocation in England. The Spaniard lias no sinecure on the leadership, however, as the veteran J. Butwell is close at his heels, with ninety-six winning mounts, three behind the leader. Butwell had an exceptionally good record last week witli eight wins to his credit. Good as that record is, it was surpassed by L. Elisor, who piloted twelve winners, an average of two a day. From now it should be an interesting struggle for the leading riding .honors of the year.
