Alcock Exodus Defeats Dry Moon. 1 1 BALTIMORE, Md., November 3. Outsiders again lield sway at Pimlico this afternoon and one of the most unexpected -winners turned up in A. S. Wood-cllffes Teto, which captured the Forest Hill Handicap at a mile, the feature of the card. Reserved behind, a killing pace, set by Knot and Captain Alcock, the four-year-old Ballot gelding responded v gamely jyhen jockey Werner called on him and won going away by three lengths, with Knot and Captain Alcock in second and third places respectively. The latter pair ran a sensational race. Knot led around the first turn, witli Captain Alcock close in pursuit" and trying to run out. Straightening into the tmckstretch the pair settled into the same stride and continued that way to the end, first one and then the other alternating in the lead by a nose or a liead. Knot proved a bit better at the end and outgnmed Captain Alcock for second place. ;The overthrow of the favorites began early. "Wild -Thoughts was most favored in the opening dash, but the finish found the McClelland racer in fourth place, Pernwood, Mantilla and Silence leading- her home in the order named. In the steeplechase tliat followed Max Meadows, the public choice, -could, do no better than finish third, the old timber "topper Hibler leading by a -wide margin throughout, with Sinithfield in second pldace.j.?r ; v5 Philippic and Nancy Ann. running as the E. K1 irysdaeatry v tnrnished a big; surprise by finishing-Jlrst tnd third respectively in the third race. The entry paid 7.30 to to win. Le Gaulois, another outsider, was second while the favorite, Lonely, was fourth. The Govans Purse, run as the fifth race, resulted in an easy victory for Star Realm, ridden by But well. The Davis colt won by six lengths. The Juvenile Handicap was productive of a well run race between Exodus and Dry Moon, the former holding the Wilson crack safe in a spirited closing drive. W. M.:. Northey. secretary of the Montreal Jockey Club, was an arrival. Jockey Sneidnian, who was injured as a result "of a fall at the Jamaica meeting, was a visitor at Pimlico,- looking none the worse for his mishap. He. will be seen in the saddle again shortly. ! S. A. Clopton left for Louisville his afternoon with Harry Payne Whitneys twdiycar-old Tryster. The latter js being sent to Kehucky to fill his engagement in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes. Jockey Coltiietti will have the mouut on the colt. Jockey T. Nolan, whose contract with the Commander J. K. L. Ross stable expired a few days iigo, left for his home in Hartford, Conu., where lie will rest until the opening of the New Orleans meeting. He will ride for the J. J. Murphy stable during the winter. It Is understood jockey Ambrose will not ride for the Whitney stable next year. James Fitzsimmons, acting for the Quincy stable, claimed -he two-year-old Master Jack yesterday. D. Shaw has arranged to winter- Soldat de Verdun and Little Cottage at Bowie. Both horses have been fired, as has also A. Robertsons Marauder, which will also be wintered at Bowie. Fred Burlew came over from- New York this morning to look after the mare Wedding Cake that J H. Rosseter is racing at Pimlico. Mr. Burlew received word that twelve of the Rosseter yearlings i hud, been Bhlpped from the Wlkiup Ranch at Santa I Rosa, California, to Belmont Park. Another band I of the youngsters will be sent east later on.
