The Prince George Park course is provided with ,n backstretch" chute Which permits of the running of seven-eighths of a mile around one turn, also of racing at the intermediate distance of six and a half furlongs. This chute is. popular with horsemen and racing patrons alike and racing secretary Joseph McLennan will make full use of it this fall as he has in the past. Mr. McLennan has always been fortunate in bringing horses of mature years, whether they be of the stake or the selling plate quality, together in races over a long distance of ground at Bowie and, he lias, provided for four or five such races for the impending meeting. There, wil also be several races for two-year-bids at the distance of one mile. Bowies plant has .been much improved since the last meeting. The most conspicuous improvement is the new clubhouse, a building of colonial architecture and imposing appearance. The sheltering capacity of the grandstand has been doubled and there is twice as much space underneath the stand for the mutuel machines as there used to be.
