BIG ENGLISH ALLIED OFFICERS RACE United States Army officers will have an opportunity to take part in the Grand Military Steeplechase meeting, to be held at Snndown Park, near London, on March 11 and 12, 1921. The competition is open to hordes owned by any state, or the property of any officer who served in the allied and associated armies during the great war. British army horses will not compete. The weight specified is 161 pounds. The race is the Allies Grand Steeplechase of ,000, entrance 0 for all but starters at two and one-half miles. The horses are to be ridden by officers on the active list of their own army, and in uniform The measurements of the jumps are highly interesting. The open ditch is six feet in width and two feet deep, behind a hedge four and a half feet in height. The plain fence is about four and a half feet in height and the water jump will call for a leap of more than twenty feet by any horse that can execute it successfully. The hedge in front of the jump is about three feet in height and the water stretches over a width of approximately fifteen feet. This jump will furnish a difficult task for the steeplechaser. Entries for the race will close February 15 with Weatherhy and Sous, 15 Cavendish Square, London.
