BEAUTIFYING SARATOGA RACE TRACK NEW YORK, X. Y.. Xovember 28. Tlie Saratoga Racing Association has a force of men at work beautifying the infield of the main track. Last year an excavation was made with the idea of constructing an artificial lake, in the center of which was placed a large fountain, but on account of the nature of the soil at this point all tlie water soaked in the ground, and the lake proposition had to be abandoned temporarily. Now, however, the excavation has been greatly enlarged and later will be lined with clay or cement and flooded so that visitors to the track next season will find a beautiful lake instead of the flower garden. Numerous fountains will be erected in the lake and the banks will be lined with flowers.
