SARATOGA STAKES ENTRIES Big Increase in Nominations Received for Stellar Events of 1921. A total of 1,208 nominations were received for the, Saratoga stakes of 1921. which closed for entries on November 27. This is an increase of 170 over the figures of 1920. The Hopeful Stakes, the richest of two-year-old races, closed witli 238 nominations as compared witli 225 of last year, fourteen of these entries coming from France for the account of H. P. Headley of the Beaumont Stud of Lexington, Ky. The entries fcr the Travers and Alabama Stakes of 1922 show- an increase over botli that .of 1920 and 1921, the latter event growing from seventy-five nominations in 1920 to 125 lit 1921 and 150 in 1922. President R. T. Wilson of the Saratoga Racing Association was greatly pleased over the entry returns, which, according to his way of thinking, is a happy omen for the breeding industry of the country and the continuation of the wonderful prosperity enjoyed by the American tnrf during the season of 1920.
