STALLION JACK ATKIN IS DEAD I The fine young stallion Jack Atkin died Decemlier : !. He was not long in following his breeder and former owner, Barney Sehreiber, into the eternal i mists. He was an extra good racer, extremely fast, , a superior weight-carrier and, perhaps, the best of ; the many good sons of Sain, although many would award that honor to Nealon. Sain is about the only St. Simon horse that has succeeded eminently in i American breeding and Jack Atkin seemed well I qualified to follow his example. He has sent a i number of good winners into racing, but, as yet, , nothing up to his own exalted standard of excellence. However, he was young enough to have . that accomplishment in reasonable expectancy. He . was highly prepotent and of the twenty-six mares ; lie was mated witli this year twenty-three are held I to be safely in foal, so he will be well represented 1 for some years to come. He was the property of C White and Garnett, Herbert Stud, Hopkinsville, , Ky., .at the time of his death, which resulted from i an attack of acute indigestion.
