; JEFFERSON. RETTING TO BE TESTED NEAA ORLEANS, Ia., December 14. The mile and ah eighth handicap, which held the place of honor on todays program, resulted In a hollow victory for G. W. Atkinsons Tailor Maid, with Biff Bang in second place and. Rapid Traveler third. It was Visking a good deal of a three-year-old "to carry ! 120 pounds over todays difficult track, but In spite .of tlje apparent hard task the public had faith in Rapid Traveler aiid installed him favorite. Biff Bang also found considerabre support, with but little attention accorded Tailor Maid, Tantalus and Diihabiah II. Rapid Traveler, despite his heavy impost, at once went into a good lead and continued in "the vaii until reachhg the .stretch, where Biff Bang and Tailor Maid both closed in on him and, after a brief struggle, left him in their wake; Tailor Maid drawing out decisively. Tantalus closed a good gap from a tardy "beginning, bnt little. Eongs tide on Dahabiah II. was decidedly inefficient and he kept her iu the deepest part of the track all the Way. "From all reports an information will be filed tomorrow agaiiist one of the layers at the Jefferson Park track by District Attorney Buchler of Jefferson Parish. It will serve HH a test case with lcspect to the hetting method how in use here. Pending decision of "the case there will be no further : betting" disturbances at Jefferson Park, it is thought.
