GREAT TRAVELER OF OLD Incidents in Career of Strathmeath, One of Americas Famous Racers. The travels of such of our present-day tuif heroes as Kxteiminator. Sir liarton. P.oniface. P.illy Kelly. The Porter and others which have delighted the patrons of racing in New York. Maryland, Kentucky and Canada by their brilliant performances recalls the time when back in the nineties the late Green R. Morris and StrHthmeafh found a traveling lombination familiar on all the big tracks of the country from New York to San Francisco. In the course of their adventures Strathmeath made Moiris a rich man. Strathmeath was perhaps the best son of Strath-more, although Strathmore begot many good horses. He was a capital two-year-old. and among his successes won the Algeria Stakes at Graveseud, Junior Champion Stakes and Tyro Stakes at Monmouth Park, and Partridge Stakes and Spring Stakes at Shoepshead Ray. Carrying 124 poinds "ie ran third to Potomac and Masher for the Futurity of 1890, Potomac having up 115 pounds and Masher 108. Morris brought Strathmeath out to Washington "ark in 1891, and realized a dearly cherished desire to win the American Derby with him. It was probably the proudest day of the old turfmans long career when Strathmeath came home in front of Poet Scout and Kingman, with the great lace easily won. Resides this great feat Stratnieath that year and in subsequent years won such important events as the Twin City Handicap at Slieeps-head Ray, Stockton Stakes at Monmouth Park. Country Club Handicap at Morris Park, Spencer Stakes and Merchants Stakes at Saratoga. St. Nicholas Hotel Stakes at Latonia and many other races of minor importance. A peculiarity of his career was the number of dead heats in which he was a factor, dead heating with Don Alonzo, Russell, Charade and Copyright. He also figured in a winning match race with P.asso in the first year of racing at the Ingleside track, San Francisco. His seven years of racing resulted in the following record : Year. A.
