January M. -Hernias Clyde one of the largest stockholders in the Maryland Jockey Club, which owns the Dimlico race track lias raised the ipiostion whether officers in race track associatteeiis could lawfully serse as stewards, judges and bsndlcappers, or in other official capaci-j ties. He submitted the question to secretary J . Hayward of the Sate Bating Commission, win. sent it to attorney-general Araastrong with a request lor an opinion. If the point is veil taken by Mr. Clyde several of the racing officials of PimliCO will be affected. William D. Biggs, an officer of the Maryland Jockey Club, has been acting as racing secretary of the Dimlico track, while Frank J. Bryan, a Iim-lico stockholder, is a steward, as well as the haii.lt-capper at Dimlico meetings. Officers of other racing associations also have at .eri. iis times acted as stewards or in other capacities where they directly eon trailed the racing.
