S FAST RACE Defeats Band of High Class Sprinters in Rainbow Handicap G D Widener Wins Two Races Racesand and the Rancocas Stable StableHorses Horses Do Likewise NEW YORK N Y May 17 Stars of the sprinting division shone in the third running of the Rainbow Handicap at Jamaica today and provided a contest worthy of their reputations Dominique carrying the colors of the Rancocas Stable won the event by a length and a quarter with the Foreign Stables Audacious in second place and J E Wid eners Naturalist a close third thirdJockey Jockey Sande gave Dominique one of his best rides The speedy son of Peter Quince appearing with the silks up for the first time this year made all the pace leading throughout and running the threequarter mile in 111 This equaled the track record made by S C Hildreths Lucuilite in October 1918 and equaled the following June by John Sanfords Tippity Witchet Lucuilite carried 120 pounds in his record establishing run Tippity Witchet packed 111 in equaling it while Dominique shouldered 122 pounds in sharing the honor honorDominique Dominique got away in second place with Krewer his stablemate just a step ahead but he took the lead soon after and proceeded on his way under good rating until set down in the stretch Peter Piper and Naturalist were closest to the rin ner la the carly running but Both tired slightly under heavy imposts in the stretch drive Auda ¬ cious which got off slowly and forced wide on the turn closed with great speed and outgamed Natur ¬ alist for second money The winners share of the stake amounted to 3350 come to be a regular thing at Jamaica On seven of the ten days racing has been in progress there this spring one set of silks has been in front in more than one of the races Trainer Hildreth has been the leader in the movement Tuesdays double win marked the fourth time in ten days that he has supplied more than one of the winners On one day he saddled three In all Mr Hildreth has saddled twelve
