FAST COURSES IN NEW ZEALAND The New Zealand throequarter mile course of Trentlmm Wellington nearly straight and slightly down hill is extremely fast At times the wind favors horses a good deal but to nothing near the same extent that a norwester does diwii the long straight at Riccartou Christchurch The last mentioned course lias a fall but not one equal ¬ ing that at Trentham It is at Rkcarton and Trentlmm that New Zealands best times for three quarters of a mile have been made and the latter track gives fast time at all distances It was there Warstcp made the New Zealand record of 324 for two miles while Gloaming recently did 45 seconds for a half mile and Duo 25SJf for a mile and ttirooqiiartors Other fast Minos at the last meet ¬ ing nt Trout linni wore Absurdums fiveeighths in rS notions mile Iii 13 Silver Links 125 for seveneighths Silver Peaks throequarters in 111 Sunarts win over a mile and throeeighths in 219 and The Hawks success in l10J over threequar ¬ ters In Australia nearly all the time records have been made at Randwick the few exceptions includ ¬ ing Harriet Grahams 353 for two and a quarter miles at Flemingtou and Molly Robes 218Vi for u wile und threeeighths in Brisbane
