Despite the intense heat a crowd of over 5,000 witnessed the initial days racing at Delorimier Park this afternoon. As the feature attraction the Inaugural Purse was provided and resulted in a hollow victory for the mare My Gracie. Incidentally it marked her sixtli success this year. My Gracie took command at once and was never in trouble. In a lively finish Assumption outstayed Stepson for second place. The finishes were close and decidedly interesting in the majority of the remaining races. Efficient, Banyan and John W. Klein all came from behind in the stretch to win. Efficient was making his debut in the colors of his new owner, J. Hoskins, in the opening race. For misbehaviod at the post today jockey J. Schlessinger was suspended for three days by starter AVilson. Word was received here today from Quebec City that jockey J. Connors suffered a broken arm in a fall during the meeting which closed there yesterday. J. Hoskins has added to his string Efficient, which he purchased from F. Williams. Godfrey Precce yesterday purchased Doc Vaughn from W. D. Millard. It is his intention of making a. jumper of him. Judge Charles Campeau also got in from Quebec, where he served in the stand at the Quebec City meeting. He reports that jockey A. Collins suffered a crushed foot during that meeting and will be unable to ride for some time. Jockey A. Casey had a leg broken in an accident while astride Dainty Lady. The Baldwin was severely injured and will be on the shelf for considerable time. The officials for this meeting follow: Steward representing the Quebec Breeders Association, J. F. Ryan; stewards, W.
