MANY SCRATCHES AT KING EDWARD MO.NTBKAL. Que., July 15. A steady downpour of rain last night rendered the track heavy for racing at King Edward Park this afternoon. As a result the fields were greatly reduced by scratches. The weather today was ideal, however, and the attendance of tlie average mid-week day proportions. The track dried out rapidly as the afternoon progressed. A series of claiming races made up the days card. The fifth was productive of the best finish of the afternoon when Miss Kruter just lasted long enough to head Ned Mileybriglit by a head. Incidentally it marked the first victory for the stable since L. Ayers succeeded Carroll Drake as trainer of the H. W. Moore horses. The winners of the remaining races scored with considerable to spare. Jockeys W. Taylor and J. McDowell have been restored to good standing. Both suffered suspensions during the Mount Boyal meeting. The good mare My Gracie will be on the shelf for at least six weeks, according to the veterinarian. She was cut to the bone when kicked just below- the stifle while at the post for her last race here, which she won. " Five mares with foals at their sides were shipped from J. K. L. Boss Canadian breeding farm at Vercheers, Que., yesterday to Laurel, Md., consigned to H. J. Bedwell. The shipment included Briar Path, filly foal; Delia Mac. colt foal; Mar-jorie A., filly foal; Argument, filly foal, and Katharyn Gray, colt foal. B. H. Good secured Clip by the claiming routu for ,000 out of the last race yesterday.
