ORIGIN OF GRAND PRIX DE PARIS It is not generally known that when the Due de Moiny founded the Grand Prix de Paris in 1SI3 during the second empire,- there was a strong inclination t ill the race after the Due, just as the English great race takes its title from the Lord Derby of 1780. The event was finally called the Grand Prix de Paris out of compliment to the Conseil Municipal, which subscribed ,000 to the stake.
