TRICKS took the lead immediately and. setting a good pace, drew away in the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth when forced to a drive. SIMPLE SIMON raced in the best going all the way and made a fast finish. FAIR VIRGINIA began slowly and raced wide on the turns, imt gained gradually and finished with a rush. GRASS TREE was in close quarters on the turn out of the backstretch and" was forced back. GREEXWICII VILLAGE displayed speed for a half mile. JOAX MARIE, away badly, caught the webbing across her blinkers at the start, carried it for the entre race and closed up fast after going a half mile, but could never overhaul the leader. YANKEE STAR set a fast pace to the stretch and finished gamely for second plate. REPARATION met with slight early interference and, finishing gamely, outstayed SHAFFER in the final drive. SHAFFER showed speed, but tired. CLOUGH-JORDAN began slowly and closed a big gap.
