The Alabama Stakes, with a guaranteed cash value of 0,000, has been one of the chief events Saratoga racing since its first running in 1S72. Tlu race is at a mile and a quarter for three-year-old fillies. It was originally run at a mile and eighth. Nominations for this years Alabama closed November 27, 1020, with 12S entries, three of which were void on account of the death of nominators. Since that time two have been declared at 5 each, seventy-nine at 0 each and eight at 5 each, leaving an active entry list of thirty-six. The first Alabama, in 1872, was won by the late August Belmonts Woodbine in 2:0. In 1019 II. Whitneys Vexatious, carrying 114 pounds, won from Milkmaid and Polka Dot. Last years Alabama fell to W. II. Cocs Cleopatra, which finished ahead of Ethel Gray and Edwina. The time was 2:07. Following is the revised list of eligibles for this years race: The Alabama, for three-year-old fillies.
