Won driving; second and third the same. EDAV1NA, away well, lacked early speed, but gained steadily after going a half mile and, finishing fast and gamely, outstayed LAST STRAW in the final drive. LAST STRAW ran well, and took a small lead in the stretch, but tired in the closing strides. PEN ROSE raced in closest pursuit to the stretch, hut tired and swerved when called on for a final effort. TEN-LEC set a fast pace for the going, but tired after going three-quarters in the lead. ESCARlOLETTE finished fast. SEA SCOT, after being under stopt restraint in the early running, closed up rapidly at the last fence, but was ridden badly and lost several lengths, then came on again and got up to win in the last stride. WOODRUFF fenced well and made a game finish. SURF fenced faultlessly and showed the most speed, but tired in the last eighth. FRANC TIREUR raced promisingly, but tired in the stretch. DUNCECAP, a forward contender from the start, gradually improved her position while racing on the extreme outside of the leaders and, coming fast through the last eighth, wore EVIL down and won going away. EVIL showed the most speed in the going, hut tired in the last sixteenth. CLANSMAN, oft well, raced on the inside all the way and tired in the final drive. CARMENCITA began slowly and, racing next to the inner rail in the softest going, closed up steadily, but could not overhaul the leaders. YANKEE MAID raced gamely throughout in closest pursuit, but could never improve her position. EXTERMINATE slipped through next to the inner rail and made a rush at the eighth post, but tired finally.
