FRENCH SUCCESSES FOR MACOMB ER DEAUVILLE, France, Aug. 17. The meeting on Saturday, August 13, at the beautiful little city of liernay in the Departemeut of the Eure, built ot the Cliartenonne River, was a most successful one for A. K. Macomber and his American jockey, Frank ONeill, who rode the winners. Both of the two-year-old races of the meeting were won by fillies bred by the late W. K. Van-rterbilt, and trained by W. Murphy, at La Morlaye; one by Moonbeam, a chestnut filly by Sweeper Mon Etoile II., by Flying Fox, and the other by Corisande, a brown filly by Rabelais Aff it-he, by Sans Sonci II. At Deauville, Sunday, August 14, Macombers three-year-old Phusia, by Maintenou Pope Joan, by Disguise, won the fashionable Prix Merettes, beating Capt. Jefferson D. Cohns Glorious, ridden by Steve Donaghue, by a short head. Frank ONeill lode the winner. Other results at Deauville, Sunday, were: The Marquis do Martorells Cesarewitch candidate Nouvel An, by Jocoba Nichi, ridden by Milton Henry, beat Baron E. de .Rothschilds Aespera-tllion, b. c, by Sans Souci II. Wetaria, ridden by F. OVNeill, also a Cesarewitch entry, by a head. The Prix Roches Xoire was won by Baron E. de Rothschilds Viburnum, a four-year-old son of Bay Cherry Viridaflora, by Sans Souci II., ridden by tfie American jockey Matt, McGee. Among those which ran were N. E. Ambatielos Fisticuff, by Irish Lad;- ridden by M. Garner and A. K. Macombers Pantagruel, a two-year-old bay colt by Rabelais Cagnotte, by Champignol, trained by W. Duke, and Baron E. do Rothschilds Zanpanie, piloted by Matt McGee.
