There were twenty starters a record number for the Ebor. Pommc-de-Tcrre was made favorite, starting at 2 to 1. March Along won in the last stride; by a head, three-quarters of a length separating second and third. Carslake rode a fine race on tlie winner. The weather was delightfully fair and sunny and an immense throng visited the beautiful and ancient cathedral city to view the Ebor. It is reported that Poninle-de-Terre, the favorite, came out of the race in poor condition, and he will probably be retired to the stud immediately, instead of going to France to fill bis engagements there. Donoghue survived an objection in behalf of the Combination colt, which was beaten by a short head. The filly was a hot favorite at 7 to 4 on. She carried top weight, 131 pounds, and led from the barrier, winning in a canter by four lengths. Golden Corn is undoubtedly the best two-year-old of her sex in England and she made a great impression.
