KNIGHT OF THE HEATHER raced in a forward position from the start and, passing HOLD UP on the last turn, took a good lead quickly, but tired in the last sixteenth and just lasted long enough to win. JOCK SCOT was taken back and saved under slight restraint to the stretch. Where he closed up gamely, hut was forced to be eased up when the leader swerved out. and but for this would have won. PICKAVICK began slowly, but closed an immense gap and was going fastest of all at the finish. EPISODE was outpaced. HOLD UP set a fast early pace, but nit in the last quarter.
