RESULTS OF NEWMARKET SALES The sales of yearlings which were conducted at Doncaster, England, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week, could not be described as successful. On the contrary, a large number of the youngsters remained unsold and there was a considerable slump in prices. The transactions recorded are as follows: Thursday, September 27 Eleven lots averaged ,975. Wednesday, September 2S Forty-eights lots averaged ,923. Thursday, September 29 Thirty-seven lots averaged ,275. Friday, September 30 Fourteen lota averaged ,012. Tho top prices of the sale wero paid for a colt by Polymelus Willia, by William the Third, ,000; a filly by Tho Tetrarch Lychorida, by Black Sand, ,500, and a colt by Sunstar Flowing Cup, by Cupbearer, ,500. These three were purchased by M. Gouculdas, the Greek sportsman. A filly by Golden Sun Blundella. by Mackintosh, was purchased for the account of Marshall Field at ,250.
