DISAGREEABLE WEATHER AT KEMPTON MONTREAL, Que., October 4. Eugene Lutz furnished the winner of the five and a half furlong dash, which featured the card at Kerapton Park, La Prairie, this afternoon, witli the mare Propaganda, which fairly reveled in the heavy going and easily took the measure of those opposing her. ; Waking Dream closing with a burst of speed got up to head Split Silk for second place. Todays racing was run off under discouraging conditions. The sky was heavily overcast and cold winds swept across the field. It was the coldest, day of the racing season, but a fair-sized crowd turned out. Jockey J. Smith, who was injured in the fall in the first race yesterday, in which the horse Gloom was killed, will be out of the saddle sev-, oral days as a result of his injuries. He is badly bruised about the hips and legs. Jockey Foden was also an absentee today with a bruised hip, , but Eddie Atkinson resumed riding after having several stitches to his mouth. H. E. Davis was fined 5 for being late at the paddock with the filly Naomi K. After the first race yesterday a protest was lodged by J. Everest; owner of Wldppoorwill. 1 against the purse won by Col. Murphy, Which liad been given a seven-pound allowance that he w;as not entitled to. The conditions allowed seven pounds to a horso which had not won a race since July 15. It dovelopcd that Col. Murphy had won nt the Quebec City meeting on August 19. The protest was allowed by the stewards and the purse awarded to Whippoorwill. while the second money was given to Jill, which finished third, : and third money to Madrid, which finished fourth.
