March 2.— Edward Taplin. who was recently granted a license by the Jockey Club, has signed to ride for C. A. Stoneham of New York this year. If Taplin retains any of his old skill he will be an addition to Mr. Coldsboroughs racing establish- ; nietit now at Gravesend. Since his alignment I with EL 6. Bedwell. a service with Commander Ross stable and subsequent term of disability since 1919. Taplin has been with the horses continually and was always a good worker among them. He wai unusually skillful ea young horses. He can ride uowadays at some 113 pounds. "aplin began his riding career in 1SHIS at Oakland, Cal., in H. C. Bedwells green, yellow and white and remained with that expert for several years. He has had over 5.000 mounts and ridden over 000 winners, as the following tabulation of his record discloses: I Ycr.
