COSDEN-PARRS BIG STABLE Thirty-Two Horses at Pimlico in Charge of the Garths — Kummer and Crawford Signed. BALTIMORE. Md.. March 19— The .1. S. Cosden Ital Parr racing stable will have two capable jockeys in Clarence Kumnn -r for the flat and "Specs" Crawford for sto.-iplochasjng. lVoth have been around Ihe top in their respective callings for several years and both are veterans of the turf. Minv establishments have failed for lack of first-class riders, examples of this being when 3. K. U Koss let out Earl Sande two years ago. and when the late H. C. Hallenbeck lost the services of Carl H. Shilling. Kummer rode the great Man o War as a three-year-old and won more than 92,000 that year. East year he did not have as many mounts, but turned in more than 51,000 and stood seventh in the amount of mony won. Crawford was second to Byers last year, with more than 5,000 against 2,000. Crawford led the timber toppers in 1920 in percentage of winning mounts, but again Brera captured the most money, his victory on Ruettisie in the Manly Memorial pushing him to the front Charlie Mergler and Alfred Williams will help Crawford eat, while Nathan Smart will gie Knm mer a hand. Billy Garth and Woods, his son. are at Pimlico with the Cosden-Parr string. They claim lhal they never have come out of Virginia at this time of the year with such a splendid stable of thoroughbreds which numbers thirty-two and three ponies. All the horses are looking the picture of health and all have been given light exercise during Ihe winter down at Charlottesville. Several horses will be raced at the Havre de Grate track and many of lliem at Old H.ll Top. Some of the "babies" will be saved until the establishment moves to New York for the long summer season. Heading the stable is 1aul .Tones, the 192o Kentucky Derby winner, which beat Harry Payne Whitneys 1pset aud George W. l.offs On Watch. Paul .loues scored a number of other big victories after annexing the big Kentucky race and great things are expected of him this year. Blazes. his stablcmate. has been retired to the stud, but will be brought back later on. Road Times heads the three-year-olds, a Derby entry, who is not eligible for the Pivuknea* because " he is a gelding. This gelding won a number of creditable races last fall and the Garths hope be will prove to l e another Paul Jones. Others in the same division are Idtdy Baltimore, a Preakness and Pimiico Oaks candidate: Koiilette and Big Heart, which I. is not lived up to expectations. Big Heart, by the way. was matched with Elemental as a yearling, but when Boss and Kedwcll split the • ace was called off. It looks as if Beftaaatal, which is owned hv Buck Foreman, is tiie better horse. A bay colt by Sweep -Ballot Oirl. which is unnamed and which is a brother of E. B. Mcl.eaus The Porter, is the king of the youngsters, because of his breeding and his cost of 1,800 as a yearling. This young fellow showed good workouts last fall and looks every inch a race horse. Maryland-ers probably will not see him under silks until the fall season. There are nearly a score of other two-year-olds n the atrfaC, with a chestnut filly by North Star III. and Bayberry Candle, which ran so well several years ago in Maryland. The jumpers will be ready for business when tie-time arrives. In the stable are Royal Arch. Baaed -naa. Bulls Eye. In-lain. Vicarie. a three-year-old. and the four-year-olds Musty i limine. Hallavill. and Kaunus. Several years ago Garlh capiured all Inn one or two steeplechases at Old Hil Top. Lewis Garth, another nieiiibo- of the family, has a stable a. Havre de Grace. He has ei|fht youngsters, one being a half-brother to Head Times. His name is Boiler Times. Another baby is named Reformer, whose mother is The Busybody, which was .sired by Meddler. Gem and Beverly Belle are tl Ider holies. In the jumping brigade are Sea Wolf, the property of J. T. Gwatbaaej : War Strength, owned by A. K. Macouiber and I.e Marsotlin. _ _ « «
