SUNSTARS REMARKABLE 1919 POTENCY The largest number of thoroughbred living foals recorded of late years as begotten by a sire in ■ single English season is the fifty -five, four of which died, that Sunstar produced in 1919 from eighty-one mares to which he was bred the previous year. The only instance when this aggregate wa exceeded was by Gladiator, which ran second to Bay Middleton for the Epsom Derby of 1S3ti. In 1841 he had fifty-four living foals, according to the official return of that year, and four dead offspring.
