March 19.— Frank Steinharts pair of colts. Krank S. and Havana Klectric. smothered all opposition in the running of the 0,000 tuba Produce Stakes this afternoon, tinishing oue-two as named, the former winning by a length and a half, while Havana Electric beat Rrovvn Shasta four lengths for second place. The Steinhart pair dominated the running from the start, with Rrovvn Shasta and Relov close up at the stretch turn, where Krank S. and Havana Klectric drew away. At the finish the loaders were under restiaint. with those bai-k of them driving hard. Vein no. which was victorious in his other only start, and expected to furnish formidable contention for the big prize, went to the post |iiite lame and was never a factor. Todays stake had a gross value of 2,025 and the winners share was ,150. It was the secoDd running of the event, the Armonia Stables Datus.-i winning it last year. That the running of the Cuba Produce Stakoa aroused keen inteiest and enthusiasm was freeljr shown from the time the Cuban "baby racers" emerged from the paddock until after the winner was reiurned to the stand to he crowned the champion of the juvenile division. It was not the least significant of the many happy auguries for the future of racing at Oriental Park, as it may like. -vise be accepted to mark the deep interest which the OilyiH Dtiidic is taking in the affairs of the turf. They slowed up in the last eighth, the three-quarters being run in 1:13. HERRONS FIRST OF MEETING. A small but select field of long-distance performers went to the post in the Palma Royal Handicap, a mile and a sixteenth race, which carried a purse of ,000. Herron proved best and won by a length from El r S.. which beat the tiring pacemaker Kiank W. by a head for second place. It was Herrons first winning race at this meeting. The opening dash was marred by the elimination of Rlack Hackle, the favorite, when he was crowded against the feme soon after the start, forcing his rider to pull him ip. The winner turned up in M Winks, which beat Oallou-P.erry in a light finish, only a neck separating the pair at the end. Another close decision came in the following race. Kiel-man holding I e Ralafte safe after a hard fought si i etch duel, the result of which remain-d in doubt until the official placing was aunouncei!
