Royce Basts, i which Travers convened last season from one of i the most undependable in-and-onters ever into a ho.se that was a model of consistency, has not ! started since he finished third last summer at Saratoga in the Delaware Handicap to Crocus and ] Idle Dell Sa4 beat Billy Kelly. He bowed a tendon slightly in that rare and Travers had him fired and 1 put aside. The bowed tendon has straightened and the son of Salvation and Saintolat, Travels says, is sure to stand training. But just when he c will get to the races is not certain. Royce Rools I races under he silks of the Fairmont Stable, of i whiili "Biily" i, ibs, m. the prize fight promoter of the Bronx, is one of the owners. Galeta. which | belongs to G. C. Mitchell, and Clinchficld and Printers Devil, which race under the silks of .1. Armstrong, campaigned at New Orleans and are ready for racing at Bowie. Hay brought Frigate, St. Allan and Sea Cove of Colonel Maxwell Howards stable and his own filly Fusee. Frigate, a fast miler, has won two races since the- first of the year. Sea Cove and Fusee have won one each, but St. Allan has not been so fortunate. However, he and the other three horses are thoroughly fit and will be racing early in the Bowie meeting, which will begin on April 1. Sea Cove, a son of Sea Horse II. and Sylvan Dell, ought to go well at Bowie. He likes slow and heavy going. Lucy Kate and Perhaps are the best horses Paul Miles brought our of Mexico. Lucy Kate was one of the best horses al distances beyond seven-eighths of the Hippodromo de la Condesa winter meeting. Robertson left Valerie West in Mexico, but brought back War Pennant, which is ! going soundly, with On High and Tiger Rose. All three of these were su cessful. Frieshon came on to ride for Robertson. Miles sold his contract on Boganowski to the Warlield Stable. He is looking about for another youngster to develop. • a
