L DEMPSEY LOUISVILLE Ky May 23 Spirited rac ¬ ing was witnessed again by a big throng at Churchill Downs this afternoon though noth ¬ ing outstanding in the way of a feature was listed The class of starters in the different dashes were generally good and being well matched close finishes were the order Favor its again scored a Waterloo their decept iveriess proving costly to the big crowd crowdThe The mile purse furnished an upset in the victory of Thibodaux which showed a spar ¬ kling race in covering the mile in 137 j and outstaying the speedy Bonus The lat j ter was intended to serve as the second part of the double that trainer Mose Goldblatt had in contemplation his own Ararat having won j tha dash preceding the feature in gallant j style Conus raced impressively but is a sluggish running filly and in need of a rousing ride Wilson was unequal to the task of keeping her close up in the flirt quarter and she was as a result one of the rear guard Thibodaux on the other hand striding freely and willingly raced into a good lead in the last half and had no difficulty in the stretch in warding off the challenge of Bonus in the last eighth Dor ¬ othy Buckner after displaying the most speed for over a half mile tired and was sprawling badly near the end endDREAM DREAM MAKER IS LUCKY LUCKYA A good band of twoyearolds started in the second race Incidentally it A B Hancocks colors were carried to vic ¬ tory for the first time during the meeting when his Pavlowa beat a band of maidens home in the sixth race in which twelve started There were scores of good things here but the Hancock filly came away in the stretch as if much the best Antonia grouped the field but a fast beginner and having an inside post position made it in ¬ teresting for the winner
