condi ¬ tions at Woodbine this afternoon were of a summerlike variety and an exceptionally large crowd journeyed to the course to wit ¬ ness the racing The program was devoid of any particular feature and though the qual ¬ ity of the horses starting in tho different races was of the plater variety they fur ¬ nished some spirited racing racingTho Tho J K L Ross colors were in the as ¬ cendency and were twice carried to victory when Lion dOr and Brynthona were triumph ¬ ant in their respective races Lion dOr had some trouble in winning his victory but Brynthonas was of the easiest sort at a mile and a sixteenth which brought together a field of Canadian breds bredsThe The track had dried out some after the severe drenching of yesterday and if no more rain falls will be fast for tho final days sport sportThe The best field of the afternoon faced the starter in the fifth race a dash of a mile and soventy yards under claiming conditions Seven were named through the entry box with Dresden allotted top weight of ICO pounds The winner turned up in G C Wln rfeys Pastoral Swain which came from be ¬ hind the pace established by Night Raider The latter lasted to take second place while Swain but starter Morrissey caught the field in align ¬ ment and sent them away to a good start Night Raider went to the front pursued by By Jiminy with the others some distance back and fairly well bunched Night Raider shook off By Jiminy round the far turn while Pastoral Swain and Biff Bang moved up into contention In a long hard drive through the stretch Night Raider hung on with gameness but was not good enough to stall off the challenge of tho winner Dresden came with a rush through the stretch and got up in time to take the small end of the purse purseBrynthona Brynthona which completed the second portion of the Ross double accounted for a dash of a mile and a sixteenth for Canadian breds Impersonator and Fus3 were the ones to establish the pace while Crynthona was rated along in third position with the re ¬ mainder strung out Rounding the far turn Claver called upon his mount and she re ¬ sponded in a good manner and easily cut down the advantage of the leaders to win by a with the running of the sixth race at a mile and seventy yards for maiden jockeys Miles S the winner ridden by L Saucier returned a dividend of 10055 for the usual investment Miles S came from behind It Ross Lion dOr scored his third straight victory this year when he was re ¬ turned first in a mild drive with Bullet Proof and Keltie third The race was a sprint of threequarters for threeyearolds and over with Lion dOr an oddson choice Tuscola showed the way until after entering the stretch where Lion dOr raced into the lead but Bullet Proof finished resolutely and Turner was forced to shake
