CHURCHILL OVER 300090 DISTRIBUTED IN PRIZE MONEYS DURING DURINGNINETEEN NINETEEN DAYS OF RACING MORVICB AND ANDEXTERMINATOR EXTERMINATOR THE BIG WINNERS The Churchill Downs spring meeting of 1022 began on May 13 and ended June 3 There were nineteen days of brilliant sport during which time 133 races were run and 303167 distributed in stakes and purses The daily average distribution amounted to 15936 Never before in the long history of the famous Louisville course was there as much interest dis ¬ played in or more publicity given to the Kentucky Derby as there was this year The fact that it was the most valuable of all Kentucky Derbys and that the undefeated Morvich was among its starters added to the enthusiasm and interest which brought to Churchill Downs on Derby day the largest attendance in its history Another outstanding incident of the meeting was the wonderful racing of the wonderful Exterminator His great triumphs in the Clark and Kentucky Handicaps delighted the immense crowds which witnessed their decision and added tone and prestige to the sport in Kentucky Considering the handicap of an influenza epidemic among the horses the meeting in every respect was wholesome clean and a credit to the Kentucky Jockey Club By virture of Morviehs success In the Der ¬ by Benjamin Block tops the list of the win ¬ ning owners of which the following won 500 or jnore
