EXTERMINATOR ONCE AGAIN Kilmers Wonderful Geldings Auspicious New York Debut Defeats Be Frank in Main Contest Contestat at Belmont Park Emotion EmotionScores Scores Easily NEW YORK N Y June 5 Exterminator made his New York debut of the year at Bel ¬ mont Park today and while there was only one starter against Willis Sharpe Kilmers champion gelding it Avas worth while to see the son of McGee and Fair Empress in action It was a mile and an eighth handi cap and the only starter that went against him was George P Fullers Be Frank the star of the Tijuana meeting It was no contest but Alfred Johnson who had the leg up on Exterminator had the old fellow under such a pull at the end that he was only winner by half a length The ones to decline the issue were H P Whitneys Dam ask Gifford A Cochrans Bersaglierc and Mrs Louise Viaus Billy McLaughlin Ex terminator took up 133 pounds and naturally was giving away great lumps of weight but it chased all of these to cover and the manner of his victory suggested that it was just as well for the reputation of each that they remained at home homeStarter Starter Cassidy lost no time at the barrier and the two old geldings left on the same stride Be Frank had the inside position and Exterminator had the jump on him taut they were well lapped and they continued lapped all through the running The difference was that Johnson after he had Exterminator into his stride never cased a restraining pull on the big chestnut In spite of this re ¬ straint the quarter was reached in 23 the half in 47 the threequarters in 11275 the mile in 1 3S and the mile and an eighth in 1 52 At the end Johnson was pulling up and old Exterminator was fighting for his head headDELIGHTFUL DELIGHTFUL WEATHER PREVAILS PREVAILSIt It was a delightful day for racing and it was unfortunate that the handicap was pruned down to tvo starters by reason of the timidity of the others that would not have a try against the Kilmer champion championA A fighting finish came out of the mile in the fifth race when W F Ormsbees Avispa was winner from Catharine Marrone racing for L H Tryon while H Watersons Siren Maid just beat Richard T Wilsons Duncecap the only other starter for the short end of the purse purseThen Then after the finish Catharine Marrone was disqualified for the foul riding of Mar inclli in the stretch and second place was awarded to Siren Maid while Duncecap was moved into third place placeCatharine Catharine Marrone was the one to cut out the pace and through the backstrctch Avispa and Siren Maid went after her while Dunce cap was a distant follower Siren Maid had the outside position and when both she and Avispa moved up on Catharine Avispa was In rather close quarters quartersSwinging Swinging for home Marinelli went wide with Catharine Marrone and Thomas made a move with Avispa on the inside Then fear ¬ ing that he might be cut off he came along ¬ side Marinelli and carried Avispa wide all the way to the finish and it was for this that he was disqualified disqualifiedGLADIATOR GLADIATOR A FAILURE FAILUREDaydue Daydue racing for the Marrone Stable was winner of the opening six and a half furlong dash for selling platers At the end he was doing his best to withstand the rush of T F Prices Doughnut and W R Coes Master Hand was third ahead of Knight of the Heather HeatherThe The start was a good one and Daydue had npeed enough to take command from the start and he led from end to end Gladiator racing outside was rated along within strik ¬ ing distance almost to the stretch turn and it appeared that he could go to the leader at any time when he was called on He was not there and dropped back badly in the stretch In the meantime Doughnut had worked his way up on the inside and he made a de ¬ termined bid in the last eighth He found his way through but could not get to the Marrone sprinter at the end Master Hand and Knight of the Heather both finished with good courage courageThe The steeplechase of the days card was J rjood cne and resulted in a wellearned vic ¬ tory for Kathryn Harlan while the Green tree Stables old gelding Sycsset ran to second place and H Lavines Royal Greens vas third There was cne spill in the run ¬ ning when Bronze Eagle made a bad landing over the water and unseated Barrett but he was fortunately unhurt unhurtSpecs Specs Crawford who had the mount on Continued on tenth pace EXTERMINATOR ONCE AGAIN Continued from first page Kathryn Harlan is usually remarkable for patience with which he can wait in a chase but with the lightly weighted Griffith mare lie changed his tactics and took her out to set the pace Royal Greens tried to go with her and was second until the water was reached where he began to tire Syossel had started slowly and Vincent Powers whu had the mount permitted him to settle nicely into his stride before he made any attempt to improve his position positionIn In the front field he moved up on the in ¬ side and his laudable desire to save ground brought him into trouble at the lower end of the field He was trying to steal through on the inside when he was blocked by New Haven losing some ground groundPowers Powers went right after the mare and then went to three of the fences lapped but Syosset was outjumping the Griffith mare and he looked all over a winner three fences from the finish But Kathryn Harlan was not through and when Crawford called on her she came again until Powers was forced to a drive Syosset tired under punishment while the mare came right along and at the end was winner with something to spare while Syosset was doing his best to save second place from Royal Greens The others were rather badly beaten off offRobert Robert L Gerrys good threeyearold fillies Emotion and Bees Wax were first and second in the mile of the Damsel a race for fillies of that age The Gerry pair were so much better than the others that it really was no contest Sande on Emotion per ¬ mitted Bees Wax to cut out the pace after he had beaten the barrier with Emotion but at the head of the stretch he went to the front with the daughter of Friar Rock and at the end he had her under restraint Right at the end McAtee eased Bees Wax up and in consequence he only beat the Greentree Stables Kings Fancy by a short head for second place placeAfter After the running of this race P A Clarks Royal Primrose was worked out at the full mile and a quarter as a part of her prepa ¬ ration for the Coaching Club American Oaks OaksHea Hea the Salubria Stable candidate for the Belmont Stakes to be run on Saturday made the trip from Washington without mishap and is quartered at Belmont Park He has improved in appearance greatly since his good performance in the Preakness when he was only beaten by a head by Pillory and he is certain to give a good account of him ¬ self in the mile and threeeighths race raceO O Jones will handle the book of jockey A McLaughlin in the future futureSam Sam Louis has sold Pride of India an
