CONNAUGHTS FINE RACING Affectation Captures Principal Race Jago First in Close Finish OTTAWA Ont June 5 The Britannia which was carded as the feature attraction at Connaught Park was for threeyearolds and over and Canadian foaled and it resulted in an easy victory for J K L Ross Affecta ¬ tion by a safe margin from Keltic and Im ¬ personator The winner was ridden by jockey Claver and dominated the running throughout The start was a good one and before the field had traversed far War Tank and Dormai were caught in a jam and both riders were forced to take up Affectation raced Keltic into early defeat and Claver took her under restraint Impersonator loomed up rounding the turn in a menacing manner but went wide entering the stretch and eliminated his chances The Ross repre ¬ sentative was under restraint at the end endLord Lord Byng of Vimy governorgeneral of Canada accompanied by Major Willis OCon ¬ nor D C M and Major Vanier C M G were visitors in the starting stand when starter Morrissey sent the field for the fea ¬ ture event on their way wayRacing Racing was conducted this afternoon under ideal conditions the weather being of the brand that usually prevails in late July JulyFrom From a spectacular standpoint the best race of the afternoon was the opening dash which brought together a field of eight Jago was returned the winner by a narrow margin from Allah with Mack Garner third Jago Allah Last Girl and Max Gold raced in close formation throughout with the first tvo en ¬ gaging in a duel that lasted from the top the turn to the end with the Bernhardt colors earning the verdict in the final strides The winner was ridden by Brickson who scored a double with Illusionist iri the second race when the latter scored an easy victory in the contest for maiden twoyearolds under claiming conditions Trippawa took second place with Straight Shooter third thirdMeuse Meuse scored his second win at the meet ¬ ing in the third race which was at three quarters The winner sprinted into a long lead and although having a wide margin at the end was tiring badly badlyErickson Erickson scored his third win when Harry M Stevens proved best of a band of platers at a mlie and a sixteenth sixteenthHenry Henry McDaniel returned this morning from Blue Bonnets yhere the main division of the Ross stable is quartered McDaniel reports that the horses are in splendid con ¬ dition ditionJockey Jockey Turner was forced to cancel his en ¬ gagements due to a slight attack of illness illnessTwo Two carloads of horses the property of Sliafer Conway L T Bauer and G W Glick arrived at Blue Bonnets yesterday from Toronto A special train will leave here tonight carrying the horses that are destined for racing at Montreal MontrealBert Bert Williams arrived from Detroit ths morning and will remain for the remainder of the meeting Melville Allen will accept entries at Dorval Park during the Blue Bon ¬ nets meeting up until 10 a in and vice versa during the Dorval Park meeting meetingAn An xray taken at Toronto on jockey J Chalmers disclosed the fact that the boy suf ¬ fered a fractured hip when he fell during the Woodbine meeting meetingEntries Entries for Blue Bonnets will be accepted the last day here by Joseph McLeJinan McLeJinanHenry Henry McDaniel will transfer the J K L Ross division racing here to Montreal to ¬ morrow to join the main division of the stable
