RACING AT VANCOUVER, B. C. Summer Season Begins at Brighouse Park With Crowd of 8,000 in Attendance. The summer racing season on the far western Canadian circuit of British Columbia was ushered in Saturday, July 22, at Brig-j houso Park, Vancouver, before a huge crowd of 8,000 people. Governor General Byng and Lady Byng were honored guests of the afternoon and many of the leading citizens prominent in the civil and social life of Vancouver attended. The Inaugural Handicap at one mile, the feature of the opening day, was won by Jelli-son, the well-bred English horse, after a terrific stretch drive in which the first four horses crossed the winning line heads apart. Plenty of racing material is on hand, over 350 horses being quartered in the stables at Brighouse Park. There is also a number of fairly good jockeys, including the craclc apprentice riders Howard Long and H. Molters, both of whom rode in good form at the recent Iteno meeting.
