TIPPO S.AlilB DECISIVELY Scores Popular Victory in First Appearance at Clsveland Big Crowd Present. CLEVELAND. Ohio, July 27. Making hH initial appearance at this track Ji Tr West:; Tippo Sahib scored a popular victory when he captured the ,200 Bedford Purse, which featured the offering of the Ohio Stale Jockey Club at Maple Heights Park this afternoon. Prince Welles set out Id make a runaway affair of the race anil led by a comfortable margin until midway of the stretch., while Tippo Sahib was forced to work his way up on the outsid2 of the leaders approaching the turn for heme. Arvins Machiavclli showed the way by a safe margin at all stages of the initial dash, while Panaman gradually improved his position to finish second. After cutting up at the post and delaying the start of the second race for seme time Mi3S Crestwood began quickly when nco away and held sway at all stages. She won in comanding style. Lady Luxury, never far from the top, took command when straightened out in the third and won rather easily. Sweep Up II., which showed the way to the stretch, fell lame and will be on the shelf for some time. The claim was disallowed by the stewards, as it developed that Miller is alleged to have only bought Bermont from R. T. Buick during the day and no money was passed. As the sale of Bermont was not recognized both Miller and Buick have been notified to appear before the stewards to show cause why they should not be suspended for collusion. a
