SPIRITED RACING AND CLOSE FINISHES AT KEMPTON PARK MONTREAL. Que., August 1. Spirited racing resulted at Kempton Course at La Prairie this afternoon in a card devoted entirely to claiming races. The contest that attracted the most interest was a dash of a mile and a sixteenth in which the first five horses were all lapped as they passed the judges. The winner turned up in C. W. Highs Dairyman, which sprinted into his usual long early lead, but had to be sharply shaken up when Hercules, one that -was overlooked in the wager-ing, finished gamely to beat El CoroneL which had chased tho pacemaker closely throughout while George C. Jr. finished with a rush on the outside of the track that brought him to within striking distance. j With perfect weather conditions prevailing the largest week day crowd of the meeting attended. Favorites fell by the wayside from the outset today, liberal prices being returned on a majority of the winners. i
