CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey L. McAtee was given a ,000 gift for his victory on Goshawk in the Saratoga Special. Jockey W. W. Taylor was set down for five days by the starter for disobedience at the post at Saratoga. Frank F., formerly in the stable of W. 13. Applegate, is now owned by Shaffer and Foster, and is racing at Toledo, Ohio. Edict, which won her last four starts,-cost Sam Hildreth ?3,200 as a yearling. She is by Jim Gaffney Royal Message, by Star Shoot. Jockey T. Wilson is riding in good form at Hastings Park, Vancouver, B. C, and is leading the riders at that track by a good margin. Former jockey C. H. Shilling is training the horses of Gifford A. Cochran at Saratoga, and saddled June Grass for his first win of the season. Shamrock was claimed from Montfort Jones by X. W. OBrien at Saratoga for ,S00, thus establishing a record for the season in claiming prices.
