1 SARATOGA LIVE NEWS NOTES FROM WORLDS FAMOUS TRACK The Breeding Bureau of the Jockey Club bought the stallion The Curragh at the San-ford sale and will send him to the Genesee Valley in the course of a few days. He will bo accompanied by the young mare Eager Lady, by Transvaal, and her colt foal by Old Koenig, which were presented to the Breeding Bureau by. James E. Tranter, president of the Fasig-Tipton Company, who bid them in at the dispersal sale of the estate of the late Frank J. Nolan. At the same sale the stallion Old Koenig was bought for the account of J. H. Madigin, president of the Niagara Racing Association, who presented him to the Canadian Racing Associations for its breeding bureau. T. J. Dbnohue will ship twelve of the Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks horses to Montreal Sunday. At the same time he will send several to his own farm at Genesto. In thi: band is the stallion Bly. and he will be bred to several of Mrs. Clarks mares. Others in that shipment are Weise, Coming and Cast Ashore. Another stallion that will be used is Uncle George II., a son of Hackler, that has an excellent reputation as a sire ol jumpers. The horse will be so consigned to W. P. Fraser, secretary of the organization, and should do a lot of good for the general purpose horse of Canada. The Curragh is a perfect type for the work also and will be a welcome addition to the ranks of the clean-bred horses of the Genesee Valley. He cost Mr. John Sanford about 5,000 when he was bought in England five or six years ago. Three claims were lodged for Belle of Blue Ridge in the first race today, and Sam Louis proved the successful claimant. The daughter of Vulcain Adelinette cost her new owner ,305. Larry Cary and Steve Judge also sought her. Harry Payne Whitney has refused several offers for both Cresta and Enchantment. Walter J. Salmon made a big offer for Cresta, among other bidders, while Albert Simons, representing W. Averell Harriman, offered 5,000 for Enchantment, which was refused. Ohio stock will be improved too through the acquisition of the fine horse Bryn Mawr, Avhich Walter E. White of the Chagrin Val.-ley Hunt has bought from J. Howard Lewis, who bid him in at the Canterbury sale. Ernest Heider has shipped his stable to Belmont Park. He has the good jumper Ards back in condition again after his short let-up. He will be started on the second day of the Westchester meeting. j Others that Heider sent to Belmont Park are the jumper Meadow Grass and the two-year-olds Sequel. Robin Hood and Evelyn Ruth G. It is the intention to take up the jumping mare Say Which for fall racing. By reason of the bidding up Thursday the first and fifth races tomorrow will have a value of ,605.67, while the sixth race will be worth ,801. Max Hirsch was so displeased with the ride of Marinelli on Belle of Blue Ridge in ! the opening race that he intimated he would keep him oh the ground. j j The stables of T. J. Pendergast and John S. Ward were shipped to Louisville, Ky.J 1 tonight. Trainer Lou Cahn and jockey Fred Smitli left at the same time. Former jockey Herbert Sumter, who was recently stricken with paralysis here, was removed to the Roosevelt Hospital, New York, today. C. T. Boots has shipped the three A. K. Macomber three-year-olds he is training to Belmont Park. The main track was closed to trainers this morning and all the work had to be done over the Oklahoma. F. Hopkins shipped fourteen of the II. P. Whitney string he has in his care to Jamaica today. Sam Louis today sold Bud Fisher, which he recently claimed from Benjamin Block, back to his old owner. Jockey F. Weiner was an arrival today from Canada, Roseate II. was claimed yesterday by J. L. Holland for ,200.
