At the water jump in front of the stands the horse stopped ishort, pitching his rider head first over the jhedgT into the vater, where he entirely disappeared fr.m view. The attendants were at their wits end to know how to render him assistance, as they had no life buoys at hand. Fortunately Thibaut is a good swimmer, and. reappearing after a few seconds submersion, he swam to the side and ran off to shed his wet garments. "Paris Sport" suggests that the next jockey who accepts a ride on Gonfalon shall provide himself with life belt.
