KENILWORTHS INAUGURAL Final Meeting of Year in Canada Begins Most Auspiciously. Brilliant Jester Breaks "Winning Streak of Fair Gain Immense Crowd in Attendance, t "WINDSOR. Ont:, September 30. Brilliant Jester interrupted the winning streak of Pair Gain in the fifth race, the feature race of the opening program at Kenilworth Park this afternoon, passing the line victor by a length from the Kenton Stable star. After Dark Horse has raced himself into exhaustion in front at the head of the straight, Brilliant Jester moved into the lead, pressed closely by Fair Gain. It was a stirring duel between the pair throughout the last sixteenth, Fair Gain fighting like a maddened beast, repeatedly attempted to savage Brilliant Jester, but Ambrose kept his mount out of harms way when he saw the fury displayed by the son of Vulcain. Fair Gain seemingly appeared to know that defeat was certain and he tried to win either by fair or foul means. He had previously won three purses in a row and captured five out of his last seven starts. He is undoubtedly one of the best handicap horses on the Canadian turf. An immense crowd was in attendance at the races this afternoon, the opening day of the fall meeting at Kenilworth, which will mark the end of racing for the season on the Canadian circuit. Grandstand, boxes and betting ring were all filled to overflowing and speculation was of large volume. Favorites fell by the wayside with singular consistency, well-backed second choices generally taking the major end of the purses. The weather was perfect, for the end of sport, the afternoon being as warm as on any day in the Kenilworth, meeting last July. REPRESENTATIVES FROM TIJUANA. Gene Normile and George Schilling were arrivals from New York this morning. They are here in the interests of the Tijuana Jockey Club and to solicit entries for the stakes to be run at that track next winter. Mr. Normile will leave for Chicago tomorrow, while Mr. Schilling will go from here to Kentucky. Part of their mission is to secure the services of Joseph McLennan for the position of racing secretary and steward. Unfortunately for them Mr. McLennan is tied with an agreement to go to New Orleans and an effort is being made to try and induce the New Orleans folks to release Mr. McLennan. The opinion of the horsemen and public alike is that the Tijuana people are making a very wise selection in seeking McLennans services for there is no more popular official in the business than he. Twenty-four new boxes have been added to the private inclosure in the grandstand, which brings the total close to 100. Benny Falk, who is now one of the Detroit staid citizens, was a visitor to the course this afternoon. In the old days of the "bookies" on the Canadian tracks Falk operated one of the largest books. The Seagram Stable will ride their apprentice C. Landreville whenever the weights permit. Landreville had the mount on Flying Jacque when that horse won at the "Woodbine a few days ago. J. Heffering disposed of the contract held on the apprentice F. Sharpe to Rome Res-pess. The lad left here after the races this afternoon for Kentucky to join his new employer, who shipped from the "Woodbine to Latonia. J. WJiyte has taken over the Canadian-bred Dorando for E. B. Ferguson and will ship the colt to Montreal to go into winter quarters. "Walter A. Dodd, who rode for E. Lutz a few years back, will be joined in wedlock on October 25 to Miss Winifred Race of Toronto. Dodd and his bride will go from Toronto to Cuba for the winter.
