FITZRDE moved up fast next to the inside rail nnd raced into a good lead after entering the homestretch, but had to be ridden out to outstay ARDELLA. The latter finished fast and gamely and was wearing the winner down, REFORMER began slowly and finished fast. FIRST WARD ran a bad race. ILLUSIONIST tired after setting a good pace to the stretch. Won driving; second and third the same. THORNY WAY raced in close pursuit of THE NEPHEW and, responding gamely when called on in the homestretch, wore him down to win in the final strides. The latter set a fast pace and disposed of RING, but tired right at the end. RUDDLES, fractious at the barrier, closed a big gap and finished fastest of all. GALLIPOT also finished fast. OGARITE took the lead quickly and, racing COLANDO into defeat in the first three-quarters, drew away into a long lead and won in a canter. COLANDO ran well and was not persevered with when he tired. Won driving; second and third the same. REX GAIETY,, close up from the start, passed the pacemaker in the stretch into the lead, but was forced to do his best to outstay TROUBLER. The latter, away slowly, gained steadily while going down the backstretch and, finishing fast, barely failed to get up to win. MALLOWMOT was much used in setting the early pace and tired in the stretch drive. DELLAHM raced under slight restraint for the first three-quarters, but tired in the stretch drive. BRILLIANT JESTER, under slight restraint, followed the leader closely after setting a fast early pace and coming on the inside on the stretch turn, when DARK HORSE quit, raced into the lead again and drew away in the final eighth. FAIR GAIN, after being saved to the stretch, came fast and, after getting on almost even terms, attempted to savage the winner and would not pass him. IRISH JIG, badly outrun for the first three-quarters, moved up with a rush on the last turn, but the effort told on him at the finish. MARTIN A. NOONAN ran weU for a Jialf mile, then quit. The latter was allowed to drop far back while rounding the first turn, then was rushed to the leaders, but swerved all through the final eighth and could have done. Letter with a stronger rider. SANS PEUR II. raced under restraint, but was cut down on the stretch turn and pulled np lame. KENTISH BOY had no mishaps. SAILOR quit. WAKEFIELD was never a contender.
