DUGAN IS TO RIDE ONCE MORE Jockey Who Made Thrilling Escape From Russian Prison Plans Come-Back. NEW YORK, N. Y., September 29. Eddie Dugan, formerly a race rider of note on New York tracks, who recentuy reached Seattle, Wash., after a harrowing experience of three years in soviet prisons, plans a return to the saddle during the" coming winter, according to a letter received from the jockeys wife by Terence Farley, custodian of the jockeys room on local tracks. Mrs. Dugan said in her letter that subscriptions received from horsemen in various parts of the country will now make it possible for her husband to go to San Diego, Cal., and attempt to work himself back into riding condition. The Dugans were in Russian prisons for three years before they managed to escape while assigned to cleaning work. When they reached .the Chinese border they were rearrested as Russian refugees and only after an appeal to the American consul did they succeed in winning their freedom. They then went to Seattle.
