BILL HEAD, forwardly placed from the start, saved ground on all the turns and, finishing with a rush, got up to win in the last strides. LETA set a good pace and, when challenged, hung on tenaciously, only succumbing in the last stride. DOLPH loomed up menacingly when a sixteenth out, but tired suddenly. MADRONO had no mishaps.
