NEWS NOTES FROM BELMONT R. L. Gerry and Marshall Field Horses to Have Double Stable Late Arrivals. NEW YORK, N. Y., December C Carpenters are busily engaged at Belmont Park inclosing stable No. 9, which will be joined to stable No. 10, and house the R. L. Gerry and Marshall Field horses. The work will be finished March 1, when thirty-one stalls will be available. Twenty of these will accommodate Mr. Gerrys horses and the remainder will be at the disposal of the Field string. A cottage is now being erected for Mr. Gerrys trainer and his staff. The Gerry horses are now in stable No. 21, owned by the Glen Riddle Farm. The Gerry thoroughbreds in winter quarters consist of eight yearlinss and six two-year-olds, with Modo and Emotion. The yearling filly by Friar Rock Coquette, bought by Mr. Gerry for ,700 at the Wikiup sale at Saratoga, died of pneumonia this fall. She was destined for the stud. The R. L. Gerry and August Belmont horses which filled PimTIco engagements arrived at Belmont yesterday. How Fair and Lustrous, which had raced in Maryland, were shipped home wnen the Pimlico meeting closed. The remaining six which raid at Bowie were turned over to Louis Feustel on their arrival Tuesday. All of the remaining eastern horses which took part in the Maryland meeting and which winter at Belmont Park are now in their quarters for the cold months. R. L. Gerrys Spray, the two-year-old daughter of Wrack The Reef, by Trap Rock, has been retired to the stud. Arrow of Gold, which has been in the R. L. Gerry barn, was sent to R. Penn Smiths farm for the winter.
