Todays card at Oriental Park was made up of a series of claiming races, the conditions of which were framed to suit the ordinary class of racers. The contests were a marked success. The first was won by Susiana, which raced under the name of A. P. Doyle of Savannah and proved an easy winner, when she beat Sweet Cookie by a length and a half. Lank, which was heavily backed by his people, proved a disappointment, while Argo broke down during the running and came out of the race quite lame. In the second the even money favorite. Sunsini, had a rough trip, being jammed and jumped on at the half-mile post, when she went to her knees. Obert was forced to pull her up and at the end she was also lame. The winner turned up in Noon Glide, which made a runaway of it, racing into a commanding lead in the early stages, but tiring badly at the finish and just lasted long enough to beat Winnipeg by a head.. The latter, racing under the colors of his owner, W. Dondas, for the first time, was favorite. Foul Weather set a fast pace in the third, making a runaway from the ohters, but was quitting at the end and had to be hard ridden to beat San Diego by a scant half length. Hohokus smothered his opponents with speed in the fourth, leading throughout and had five lengths advantage over Ruddles at the finish. The latter, Memphis and Helio-cross had a battle royal for second place, they finishing in the order named, heads separating them. WEDGWOOD BY A NOSE. N. K. Moodys Runnan was the favorite in the firth race, but was beaten by Wedgwood in a thrilling finish. The latter set the pace all the way, but tiring badly near the end just lasted to get the decision by a nose. The biggest upset of the day came with the running of the mile and seventy yards of the sixth race, in which Williams Bros. Wise Man, the odds-on favorite, quit early and finished fifth. The winner proved to be Coscorron, the Macombcr-bred three-year-old that races in the colors of M. V. Daly. He was under restraint early and, moving up fast after rounding the turn into the homestretch, easily drew away to score by four lengths. Misericorde was second, a half length in advance of Job Thayer. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Hill arrived today from New York and will make an extended visit.
